Google to be fined over 1 billion Euro?

Seems that the EU Commission may be about to impose a fine larger than 1 billion Euro on Google over its abuse of its search monopoly position. This fine relates to the shopping SERPs case. Normally the EU bureaucrats publish these things before they waddle off on their overpaid Summer holidays.

I'm just a little confused, how is it that Google is being fined for monopolistic practices relating to shopping. Does Amazon not exists in the EU? (I know it does...)

Yes, it does. But this for Google manipulating shopping SERPs to favour its own "shopping" operation.
