#true. I'm getting rid of my Nest, and I've pared down my use of Google products, I use AdSense, and I have Analytics on a couple of site, GWT, and I have two YouTube accounts. I no longer use them for search, email, etc. I'm trying to minimize my exposure to them. If I could get away without using YT it would be nice, but there are too many eyeballs to not be involved.

Very few businesses "play fair" and google is no exception. I'm in a niche competing directly with a google funded company and I see plain as day how google suppresses the competition. It's probably not illegal, definitely immoral, but that really defines most businesses.

Let's not forget how google started making money, anyone remember Overture?

While they may not lose, I predict that google will have to answer some very tough questions in the next few years regarding their business practices. Even if they do lose though, google has grown up based on a culture of it's better to ask/pay for forgiveness than to ask permission.

You know, I have no doubt that back in the dorm room days they probably believed in "do no evil", it's very easy to be idealistic in the early days, especially in college.

Once in the real world and the pressure was on to make money we soon see the true monster in the making. They could have worked with overture/goto but instead they decided to steal and fight and lose. Nothing has changed since then. I've heard it said that a squirrel is just a rat with good pr. Well, google is just that squirrel...
