Despite repeated requests to Google over the last 2 months they have NOT removed an image of my house from their local and maps categories.

Have they stopped this service? Their "Report a Problem" link is still there, but only gets a canned response: (Thank you for informing us of your request regarding Street View imagery. We’re currently reviewing the imagery that you reported so that we can take the appropriate action regarding your request.

We appreciate your patience and assistance as we work to resolve this situation.)

No further action by them has been taken.

The only course left to me now is to report them to the Information Commisioners Office for breach of privacy.
