You didn't think Google was going to leave the market for web TV services to Apple, did you? One week after Steve Jobs grabbed headlines with Apple TV, Google's CEO Eric Schmidt said the company intends to roll out its own web-based television service this autumn in the United States.
Reuters quoted Schmidt saying the Google service would be free and work with a myriad of program makers and electronics manufacturers....

The big difference is Google's box won't be using an extra HDMI port...it'll intercept the cable box. It'll need the cable companies to play ball with the software I assume it's going to want to run since it should be able to request DVR info.

Doesn't Goofle know enough about my day-to-day life? It might be a good product but there's no way in hell it will actually be attached to one of my TVs. They track everything I do online, so I like that they can't track my TV surfing and recording.
