Do you have a blog, online profile, or some other personal web page? Would you like to communicate more with your visitors? Today we're launching a new Google Talk feature that lets visitors to your web site chat with you. We call it "chatback" because instead of you doing all the talking on your blog, your visitors can talk back to you. Sure, they could leave comments, but those are public and hard to use for a real conversation. With chatback, it's a real instant message session. To use chatback, you must have a Google Talk account ... but your visitors don't have to! They don't even need to have an email address, or to have ever used instant messaging.

I am looking forward to new features too. Right now the little point on the chat balloon is only on the left side. I'd be nice to have one with the point on the right to align with pictures on the right side. Also, I'd love to control the appearance of the text. I'm going to play with it and see if I can apply my own styles to the text, but I doubt there's anything I can do to the balloon image.

Oh yea, it'll hurt "live support" vendors for SURE...will make them bring prices down at the very least.
Maybe, though Meebo (no affiliation) have had something like this out for quite a while now. I tried out Meebo's widget about halfway through last year and then put it on the shelf, meaning to get back to testing it properly at some point.
Admittedly, Meebo doesn't have quite the marketing engine behind it that Google does.
I'd love to be able to have this work in other clients, in particular so that logs can be retained and sound can be customised to be attention grabbing.
