I'm getting a 400 Bad Request error all day on the Chat back start page [google.com]

I'd be keen to try something like this - but not before they start adding look and feel customisation... at the very least I want to be able to adjust the width of the speech bubble and add a photo and some text underneath.

I am looking forward to new features too. Right now the little point on the chat balloon is only on the left side. I'd be nice to have one with the point on the right to align with pictures on the right side. Also, I'd love to control the appearance of the text. I'm going to play with it and see if I can apply my own styles to the text, but I doubt there's anything I can do to the balloon image.

Cool idea. Oh yea, it'll hurt "live support" vendors for SURE...will make them bring prices down at the very least. I wouldn't want on my site though as with so many people on it, they would drive me insane...bad enough the e-mails, LOL. Yea, now if Matt Cutts puts one on, I will, LOL...he'd keep it set to busy 24/7 though.

Maybe, though Meebo (no affiliation) have had something like this out for quite a while now. I tried out Meebo's widget about halfway through last year and then put it on the shelf, meaning to get back to testing it properly at some point.

Admittedly, Meebo doesn't have quite the marketing engine behind it that Google does.

Thanks for the heads up on Meebo. Would be interesting to see if it leads to meaningless chatter or new business development. Good job, Google. A good idea.

As I drift off to sleep to the sound of countless Google Checkout merchants, real estate agents, and used car salespersons (to name a few) copy-&-pasting Chat Back into their detail pages...and the quiet phones at the pricey 'live chat' services tomorrow...

Still obviously an early release but very interesting nevertheless. It doesn't integrate well with Google Talk clients other than the web-client; in fact if you are connected via other IM software it seems to send you a URL which when opened connects you to the Google Talk web-client in order to continue the conversation.

I'd love to be able to have this work in other clients, in particular so that logs can be retained and sound can be customised to be attention grabbing.

I've been playing with it, but it seems kinda finiky - 3 out of 5 times it was clicked on it didn't work. Have passed it on to our programmers to review and test on our dev server some more. It'll be nice to ditch the 200/mth we're paying for liveperson.

We are going to try this on an eccom site to see how it fares.

Hmm, seems to have some problems, I do not like the wording of the disclaimers that a "guest" gets at first as well. Makes a secure website look unsecure. I am going to shelf this one for now.
