Had a date with Charlie Daniels at the Sky High Club where the next opening act is Regis Philben.

Well, if we’re playing Another One Bites The Dust, Olivia de Havilland has just died, aged 104, leaving Beverly Cleary to say Neener-neener, you blinked first. (Yes, I am aware that at any given time the US has around 50,000 centenarians, but those are the only names I currently remember.)

...so no one was actually interested in his passing then. :)

I just read the Wikipedia entry on him. Apparently he was a man of great talent but became a stereotypical rock and roll drug casualty who never reached his potential.

He's not a hero, although many musicians idolize him for his considerable talent as a musician. But he seems less relevant to non-musicians.

Kind of sounds like a footnote in the history of rock and roll.

I don't feel as if my time was wasted reading about him.

So thanks for starting a discussion about his passing.

Peter Green had a big influence on many musicians, before his unfortunate fall into schizophrenia.
At least once, he knocked the Beatles from the number one spot in the UK charts, which he discovered after returning from the USA. Indeed, it is said that the Beatles tune 'Sun King' was inspired by Peter's 'Albatross'.
The treatment he was given, EST, didn't help him in the least..... Brutal!
His style of guitar playing was unique and will be missed, at least by me.
As for 'Black Magic Woman', I am constantly amazed by the number of people, including musicians, who attribute the song to Santana..... I often play Green's 'I Loved Another Woman', which I see as a predecesor to 'Black Magic Woman'. [youtube.com ] I Loved Another Woman
