The U.S. Justice Department, Antitrust Division, is opening a review into the practices of market-leading online platforms. It'll investigate how they have achieved market dominance and their practices that may have stifled competition, innovation, and may have harmed consumers.
“Without the discipline of meaningful market-based competition, digital platforms may act in ways that are not responsive to consumer demands,” said Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim of the Antitrust Division. “The Department’s antitrust review will explore these important issues.”

What it looks like and keeping up appearances might be the goal. The department has a recent history of siding with like minded political allies, not against them, to the point they won't even question some people.

The public knows this though, you can't placate them with starting things, you've got to finish.
