It really depends on where it is. If it's in more of a tech-savvy city like San Francisco, I think most people are going to know what Google Glass is. And then, certainly, at conferences such as Pubcon there are going to be those who have it: and those who don't.

In my small town, in rural america, I don't think most people will even have heard of it: and most will just see that you're wearing glasses.

It does raise the question as to what you'd do in such circumstances?

In what way is it different from a stranger whipping out a camera and pointing it directly at you? Would non-tech-savvy people feel better if it were a hidden camera?

This is why I never go out in public, without my cloak of invisibility :)

There are 5 short films where SCM walks around videoing people. See how they don't like it. They don't like it at all and quite right too.

Google glasses is worse because it can be streamed live and you don't have the chance to challenge that.

Can't say I'd be comfortable with it.

I believe some jurisdictions require permission for you to take someone's photograph... it seems lawyers may get busy if the tech gets anywhere near mainstream.

if you fire infrared beams back into their eyes the glasses will explode, that is what i have heard.

i think i'd be more worried about people nicking them off my head. they are an expensive piece of kit, and two seconds and they're gone. google should make them look like normal glasses. at the moment they just look too weird. they make you look like an extra out of star trek

If it was a friend, or someone I know, I think i'd probably be real friendly about it. If it's someone I didn't know, i'd probably react in a similar way to the person I described.

I have yet to put it to the test.

Go near small children and an irate parent may try to remove something other than the glasses!

Google Glass in public is like smoking in public... there's all that "second hand" stuff involved. :)

It would depend on the specific situation but in general...

- Casually walking by me with glasses on: No reaction, same as having a cam in public.
- Wearing them in a restaurant while I eat: Ask staff to request removal, leave if refused
- Repairman shows up at my house with glass on: Put them in the truck or get lost
- Friends/family in my house or car: VERY clear that 'not in my presence' is my preference, don't do it.

These are NOT just glasses with a camera, Google does so much more with what they see and the wearer doesn't control what is done with the data. I will never buy a pair. Scratch that, I would trash a pair even if they were a free gift.

When I first read about GG I wondered if people's faces would be blurred for privacy unless also wearing GG... Now I'm expecting to read about the growing popularity of personal jammers..

Note: my iPad kept attempting to spellcheck jammer as hammer, which would be another albeit drastic solution...
