A top secret National Security Agency program allows analysts to search with no prior authorization through vast databases containing emails, online chats and the browsing histories of millions of individuals, according to documents provided by whistleblower Edward Snowden.

The rather dumbed down looking UI rather shattered by image of the NSA as bunch of uber-geeks doing stuff like cracking military encryption.

I suppose they have those people as well, but a lot of button pushers too.

Most are probably button pushers. Their objective is assessing the content. How they get to the content, past pressing a button, is of little interest.

Since the Internet became part of our lives (for me, it was in 1994/5) I have always thought that the system is insecure. Each of these announcements only continues to prove I was correct.

Well I guess we know what happened to Google's SERPs - all the smart people went to NSA and Google got what was left. :)

When NSA Director Keith Alexander appeared at the Las Vegas security conference Black Hat Wednesday morning, he hoped to mend the NSA�s reputation in the eyes of thousands of the conference�s hackers and security professionals. It didn�t go exactly as planned.
