Employees of Hooters found the child safe about 5:20 p.m. He left the child care center in the 2300 block of San Jacinto Boulevard, crossed the Interstate 35E northbound service road and Dallas Drive, bought a soft drink at a service station and walked to Hooters, where an employee found him in the parking lot and called police.

I guess he was tired of imagination and just wanted the real thing! :)

Oh, and then he walks into a service station and buys a drink and then walks out on his own? That must have been one really mature 5 year old. And then to find his way to Hooters, oh boy. Me thinks it is the food kids are eating these days. They are a lot smarter than we were at 5, that's for sure!

I might have also been that the kid knew Dad would be there soon enough. Hooter's associates weren't allow to speak to the media, maybe they recognized the kid. Imagination Station seems to have a few problems, notwithstanding their proximity to Hooters.

Todays kids really get around. In Germany a three year old traveled to the Netherlands on her bycicle a few days ago:
Perhaps with the pay that daycare workers actually get, the kids teacher has to pull a second job working at Hooters just to make ends meet. Maybe the kid went there looking for his care giver.
