i've always thought this global warming was a load of rubbish (no pun intended btw with the word 'rubbish')...

I think the uk is the only country to get colder as the rest of the world apparently warms up...

Me to, I thought it was total rubbish, just an excuse to tax more.

Actually the article says that Global Warming as a long term trend is still continuing but the global increase in temperature may stall for a decade or so because of the natural cycle of ocean temperatures.

They cannot get the weather right on a daily basis where I live. They must be 'ing joking predicting stuff until 2020. pffft

If you read the article, they also go on to say that they've just started collecting data on ocean cycles but yet they feel confident enough to make a pretty long range prediction.

How does the earth's wobble affect temps? What if the "global warming' is all just part of a bigger natural cycle? Wasn't so long ago they were predicting the next ice age... (70s)

Scientists are still debating the past with regard to the snowball earth and the water earth. And of course, the effect of a single volcanic eruption that could slow or stop global warming for a century or more. Look up "the year without a summer" Happened in 1816.

What about the scientists telling us that a single volcanic eruption puts more pollutants (and greenhouse gases) into the atmosphere than the entire Industrial Revolution did?

No one knows whether it will be Warming or Cooling in the future - but the current Global warming craze is beginning to feel like another another South Sea Bubble.

Personally I don't care whether we have Global Warming, Global Cooling or neither of them. I know for certain however that we have extreme levels of global pollution coming from major population and industrial areas. For that reason and that reason alone, we should keep going with cutting back on greenhouse gases and all forms of pollutant.

"Scientists" are so **** inconsistant these days. One day it's an ice age, the next day the ocean level will put the world underwater .... then before you know it global cooling again...

IMO, neither global warming nor cooling are likely. It is, indeed, rubbish. So-called "scientists" just want attention - they just want something to do. Beleive it or not, nature creates more greenhouse gasses that humans. Read "An Inconvenient Book [amazon.com]" by Glen Beck.

The pastaonians (if they call themselves that, The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster) seem to have it right. Pirates are on the rise, especially in the area of Somalia, and now scientists are talking about temperatures lowering (or not going up). Hmm....

I think science has proven that the Earth has definite warming and cooling periods. Something like 10,000 years of "warm" and over 100,000 years of "cool". We've been in a relatively warm period since humans have flourished (one of the warmest next to modern days) being Roman times.

The thing I don't get is that we had a mini-ice age in the mid 1800s. Scientists are comparing those temperatures to todays. Of course temperatures are going to be higher.

Don't get me wrong, we need to do something about pollution. I like to keep my living space clean (it is messy, but not dirty). (Of course, what happened to "Acid Rain" that was going to melt us all?
