Yeah all the nationals will pooh-pooh the extradition process. But if you steal
you steal, whether its 10,000.00 in cash or 10,000.00 in software. Let the
individuals who protest this get ripped of for some large, then listen to them

I have no problem with this. He got what he deserved for breaking the law.

I just wish the same dedication and effort wcould be put into finding and punishing spammers. But then they don't directly harm the major corporates' bottom line do they?

On the one hand, I agree that he should be punished for breaking the law. On the other hand, I don't think what he did should be illegal based as I don't see software as anything other than a set of information matched to algorithms.

So if I spend a year developing a valuable, innovative software application you think anyone who wants it should be able to just take it?

I think copyright needs to be protected, but statements like this are misleading. This guy no doubt deserves his stint in jail, but theft and copyright infringement are not the same thing.

No they are not but which is worse? I used to regularly take pens and pencils from my employer - theft? Serious?

I don't want to get into a position of defending those that infringe copyright because it is wrong every which way you look at it.

The fact remains that taking pens and copying software are not the same thing. That is all I wanted to point out.
