"We will contact you shortly with an update'"
That was six days ago and no contact. <sigh>
Being in the world of a webmaster is quite interesting. It brings you in contact with and permits you to hire others and/or to be hired by others in all corners of the world.
So what excactly do you mean when you say you'll get back "shortly," or when using a similar phrase?
I know exactly what it means when someone says it in my country. But I'm finding it certainly doesn't mean the same short time frame to others in some other countries.
If this was a one time occurrence, I wouldn't even be asking.

It could be that I really do intend to get back to them quickly, but realize that other issues may come up that delay my getting back to them.
But more likely it is a low priority issue with me and I have no intention of actually getting back to them quickly, but don't want to inform them of that because that will just make them more insistant.
There's also a possibilty that I am trying to guage how important the issue is to them, which can be determined by how long they feel "shortly" has expired.
1) You call IT support and they say they'll get back to you shortly. (anywhere between 1 hour and 3 days)
2) You want to make a fairly large purchase (usually about 2-15mins)
3) You send google an email and they say they will contact you shortly (anywhere between 1 and 5 mins for auto response and between 1 month and never for a real response)
"I will pen down some thoughts and get back to you with some advice shortly."
I'm still waiting and, in the mean time, looking for someone else to help. But my requirements will be that they have nothing at all to do with *that* region, be they the first, second or third generation.
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!
Heck, all I want to do is pay a qualified person to appraise my site, which I may put up for sale. Why is this so difficult?
I will contact someone else maņana. Err, I think.
