Mozilla says it's about to start testing Firefox Monitor, a security tool to help users check whether their data might be involved in a data breach. It partners with HaveIBeenPwned.com (HIBP), and will anonymize data sharing when searching. [blog.mozilla.org]

Funny... it was big business to violate user privacy for years, now the industry has switched over to protecting user privacy. Same guys, different billboard.

Getting in front of potential regulation--a basic "smart move" which is too little too late. The regulation will be "purty soon I tink!" in the near future (next few years).

The trust factor has been so abused and exposed as the emperor's new clothes that something will be done and some folks will not be happy, no matter what.
