Meta Deprecates Facebook News Tab in U.S. and Australia, April 2024

Meta is deprecating Facebook News tab in the U.S., and in Australia, explaining that news will still be available in the Facebook Feed. Facebook News tab will continue with news publishers in Australia, France and Germany until they expire. Facebook News tab was already deprecated in the UK last year.

Content around the world will re-quote the "news" and Meta, etc will not have to deal with the publishers.

One of the saddest things is that the original web did not come with preinstalled copyright protections (it was a different time and place).
