The last thing I want is a documented "conversation history." And I think a device that lets people talk in real time has already been invented. It's called a phone.

hmm 250-300 million new email accounts. I wonder if facebook is soon to become a spammers platform as with any new email launch there is always a new flood of those that use it for a New Email Account to send out junk.

Seems like a good move IMO and I feel one day Facebook will be launching a SE of their own to be instant competition with Google. If you really think about it Facebook has 300 million or so and growing users that I am very sure would use their search to find what their looking for.

And soon they'll be coming out with:
- Facebook operating system (code name: Visage)
- Facebook phone (code name: FaceFone)
- Facebook office suite (code name: FaceOff)

It's no more than every company wants to do - Provide a "Walled Garden" environment. Personally I'm not into Facebook but I know a lot of people are. The people on Facebook whom I know personally are all non-techies who ran out of things they can do with a computer so they end up spending lots of time on Facebook chatting and what ever else they do (Farmville?). It is from this that devices such as the iPad have arisen. Not many people want to actually *work* on computers. Not many people even need a 'real' computer these days. What was a "computer" is now an entertainment device to the majority of people who have "computers".

To me this is a big 'ho-hummmm'. They'll collect and sell people's data. Nothing new here.

I know facebook search is powered by Bing but I am looking for them to lauch a new search platform powered by Facebook.

This is big news I think. Email providers everywhere will see a noticable drop in traffic.

But will Facebook do a good job at this?

I spend too much time on Facebook as it is when I should be editing photos. I'll be blocking it most likely. What's wrong with sending an email or ringing someone up?

Great, so I can be totally dependent on Facebook, and they will know even about me than I already do.

Even if I do not use this, they will know that I know people who email me from facebook email accounts.

One of my local news stations mentioned that effectively users will now never need to leave Facebook...bingo!

I doubt that this will happen.
Gmail or Yahho_mail are really great
