I’ve been registering domains for the past 5 years or so due to the cheaper prices and free WHOIS privacy. I’ve always hated account layout... and support has always sucked too (not that I use it much...)
Anyways, I’m looking to move all my domains (around 10) to a new registrar. The most important factors to me are reliability, cost, and WHOIS privacy (which seems to be standard these days). I’d like a provider that is an actual registrar and not a reseller.
For which TLDs, anything specific?
ICANN has a list of gTLD registrars, i.e. not resellers. [icann.org...]
If you're a programmer or have access to programmers, better off going with a registrar with a well developed API, IMO. For me, a good registrar is one you don't need to talk to.
If your registrant details are an EU address, chances are most registrars will provide privacy by default.
FWIW an easy way to tell the difference between a registrar and a reseller is if they use an "out of the box" billing system like WHMCS.
I would say that most registrars are also resellers for some tlds. So look for one that is a registrar for your main tlds.
<snip> I keep all my domain names at (a) Panamanian registrar and many of my clients do too. Once a complaint came to the client's domain, but the registrar notified about it and gave time to eliminate the reasons that led to the complaint. Many other registrars simply blocked the domain for no reason.

If all you need to do is move and hold your domains then Cloudflare is likely the best option in terms of cost.
