DotRegistrar Swept Away Without Notice

It appears as though DotRegistrar has gone out of business without notice to its customers. Last week all domains were swept over to MyDomain.com and no warning was given. All domain years ($$$) on account appear to have been also swept away with all accounts set on auto renew!? They appear to have the same parent company, but it is extremely unsetteling to have to learn a new system (and a fresh set of bugs where half the options don't work). The domains appear safe, but it is quite the heart stopper to try to log into DotRegistrar and be told "they are gone dude"...

All seems to be a little too convenient for the parent co. to me.

Unless DotRegistrar was a recent purchase by them, I'd think there would need to be some serious investigations going on.

Ya, it is the same parent company, but there was zero notice that this change was coming.

The Registry received their money from the previous Registrar for nnn number of renewal years ... how is it that the Registrant now has to eat this loss?

Another sterling example of how ICANN benefits Registars and Registries, but not Registrants.

IMNHO, Registrants have virtually no enforceable protections afforded to them from/by ICANN.

They claim they did send out notices. More than likely looked like spam to everyone and was deleted.

Just for reassurance I have used, what is a new service for you, for over 8 years and have been pleasantly surprised on help desk issues, pricing and reliability and I have about a 1,000 domains on their system. That said ...be careful of autofilling / auto submitting features of your browser (any service really) as their forms use some default naming schemes. I have been bite once or twice with that "feature".

Although the loss of paid years for domain is unsettling...
