We are currently with 1&1 and they will only do 1 year auto renewals, and won't renewal for 9 years as a manual request (just take my money please).
I was thinking of moving my domains registrar to a company that does multiyear renewals.
But this is going to be a pain. Is it really worth it?
Has anybody seen a boost from google for a multiyear renewal?
It makes sense, but it's nearly impossible to test.
I don't know if I'd do a 10 year renewal, but a few years maybe.
The way I see it, Google is trying to profile what a quality site is. The closer you get your site to matching that mysterious profile the better you are and the easier it is to rank well.
Most likely there are LOTS of things (like domain registration periods) you can do that, by themselves, won't make a bit of difference, but when you start adding them all up they begin to make a difference.
Beyond that point, surely the fact that it would 1 of up to 100 ranking factors would make any effect very hard to measure
Methinks tis a good idea to register for years in advance if you have a good price to do so, and it probably wouldn't hurt your SERP positions
