Investment potential

we all know the investment potential of .com/.net/.org premium domains. However, I'm seeking people's thoughts on the investment potential of other tld's. There are still good premium domains to be had in .info/.biz/.us/.cc domains which can be picked up cheaply. Do these have any investment potential? Your thoughts on each tld would be appreciated.

Every domain be it .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz./.us has a potential if:

(i) the domain is acceptable between the masses
(ii) the site design is upto the mark
(iii) you have marketed it well (seo and im)

if you are talking about only domain and not making a site out of it, even then it has value. i own many .CCs and .WSs.

Somthing has changed in recent months in the .info space there have been quite a few two word combo domains sold.

This is a new trend, the names commanding a premium previously have been single word generics and geographics like casino.info $35,127 and newyork.info at $46,392.

The big problem with .info domains is still that most users haven't heard of them. Even my tech-savvy friends and relatives query what I've just said when I mention that I've been developing a .info site.

Once there are more big, popular .infos out there, and public awareness has been raised, the tld should really take off.

I'd like to gather a few more thoughts from others out there. Anyone else with any opinions on the investment value of tlds outside the .com/.net/.org arena?

I'd take some guidance from DNJournal's listings.

.de and .uk lead the way in reported sales.

I suspect .bz (Brazil), .es, .it and others with sizeable internet communities are also doing well but the sales may not be reported.

I'm not and never have been a big fan of the rationalization of the ccTLDS for "other purposes", except for .tv. Given that TV ain't going to be television for much longer I think the .tv will start to descend - just like the islands - with the rising tides.

Has anyone outside US purchased a .us domain name? I wanted to know the legal implications. Also do you use a 301 redirect to your main site or build a separate website?

bz is Belize not Brasil.

In Germany the clear no. 1 is .de, then .com, then .info/.net and at the end .biz/.org. I really like .info when the SLD match the TLD: india.info, sports.info ....

.de is by far the most commercialised cc tld
.co.uk is good investment too. But the prob is if you are starting now you are a bit late.

so concentrate on Brazil/Spain get spanish and portugese names in .es and .br

get .it and .cn too.

Norway/Sweden are not bad either.
