Idearc Inc., home to Superpages.com and publisher of the Verizon Yellow Pages, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Switchboard.com and other online directory assets from InfoSpace Inc. for $225 million.

There are and will remain different models and versions of search, more specifically "the search that pays": commercial, business, B2B, B2C.

Celebrity search? "Free XYZ" or games search? Idol search? I'm sure the B2B and B2C "directory" players don't suffer for wont of that attention. They may yet reclaim the search space as they finally do, in 2007+, what they should have been doing in 1999/2000.

I believe another analyst out there mentioned that it was to be paid with a mixture of money and debt.
