You will likely have to learn a server side scripting language to do this unless you want to do it in an Ajax solution. I can tell you though if you are dealing with 12,000 rows that Ajax may not be the way to go unless you can figure out how to 'page' the data from that feed. Same with if you need this to be index'ble content

If you want to go Ajax you should check out Spry datasets and regions. It is from Adobe and plays nice in Dreamweaver which is why I mention it.

I think your best option tho is to write an import script that inserts/updates a database and then read the data in from that database using PHP/ASP/PYTHON or whatever server language makes sense to use.

Depending on your DB, you should have a tool or command to import a CSV file into a table.

If it's an ongoing project (with the retailer frequently updating their product feed), you may want to automate the process. You could do it with a scheduled task in the DB or application server (PHP, ASP, etc.).

2 parts.

1). importing the data into your own database.

2). getting the data from your database into your pages.

1) using something like phpMyAdmin you should be able to import a csv format file into a database.

2). extracting the data will require a scripting language, you're going to need to learn the basics of sql (mySQL) and php in order to get started, this is not trivial from a standing start - but go for it, there are thousands of tutorials online.

I've been watching a 200 part tutorial on Youtube and it seems like it's a pretty in depth process. I feel that nothing is "over my head" but it sure is turning out to be an intimidating project.

So far the tutorial has me using xampp and MySQL. Am I correct in guessing that these are 2 of the programs I will need?
