Hi all,

I have an .mssql backup file, and I need to convert it to MySQL, I havent got access to a microsoft database of any kind without it costing money. I have tried importing it to MySQL via phpmyadmin but it came up with a few errors.

All the conversion tools I've looked at ask for a connection to the microsoft server, which I dont have.

I need a way of converting the backup file to work in MySQL.

The person who sent through the backup says it is tricky and would cost them money to export the data from their ms database to a format that mysql can use. I've since asked him for the db details to use the free conversion tools that require a db connection, but is there anything that can convert the backup file and thats free?

Are you on a windows box? If so you should have access to the ODBC tool, you should be able to create a connection to it with that.
