I am new to the ms sql world. I have been reading about the types of licenses there are and generally was looking at ms sql standard 2005. Now I think I understand about CALs and what they are. Basically a user account to access your database correct? The main question about those are will these have unlimited space and still have 33+thousand concurrent connections? I want this version so I may put it on a new dedicated box. Also I understand the one processor license I believe. But what about CAL is that not installed on your computer? Does it use your processor(s)?. Their just certain questions I dont quite understand yet. Because Processor licenses are alot more expensive then the cals wanted to know what the real difference was/is. Does the CAL Not use your processor? I generally will only have really one person/coder/sql manager connect to the database maybe to maintain it.
If anyone could help me clear this confusion up it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
