Hello Im new to attaching databases and need help with detaching and attaching a database with Hostopia. The site i am trying to move has an online editor with an sql backend. I just cant seem to get it to work any insight would be great thanks

When you say attaching/detaching do you mean backup/restore? You should be able to backup the existing database and move it to your new server and restore the database, providing the server allows that very same database to run on it's operating system.
