How are you managing 1 database among a staging and live site?

Currently, we have a static site that resides on the LAN, and a staging site (staging.ourdomain.com), and a live site.

We are moving to a database-driven website and ideally, would like to maintain 1 database rather than have duplicity and extra maintenance.

Do you have a similar situation?

I believe the keyword you're looking for is "replication".

We used to replicate data to a backend database server for reporting/testing purposes
