How I can set my localhost as a database server

Hello,
I have installed the MySQL5.0 on my PC, and in one network I want to access the MySQL databases from other PC. However unfotrunately I can't becase MySQL installed with hostname as localhost and so I was unable to access it on other PC. Can you please tel me how I can reconfigure my MySQL server with my local PC IP address as a databas host and how I can access that from another PC.

Any help would be appriciated!

As long as you allow TCP/IP connections, which is usually standard during setup, then you can connect. You can specify either your IP or machine name in the connection string from any other machine on your network that can see yours. The hostname really shouldn't matter at all.

Do you have a firewall on either computer? Also make sure to GRANT access to the db from the other host (or all hosts) from the mysql command line (or phpmyadmin, etc).

Yeah, we had a firewall block.... many thanks for solution. Now we are able to connect to MySQL....!
