Yes, it's already here

Over the years noticed multiple discussions wondering if humans would end up replaced by computers for generating content, most of these ended pretty quickly because... no. The story is way different in recent years, as I've seen on "webmaster forums", people offering 10, 20, 30 artificial intelligence generated content for coffee - money, as cheap as the value of such articles, but yes: "interested? send me a PM" they say. Things got weird when I found thread topics discussing "yeah, you just need to tweak it a little bit you easily you get X amount of free articles per week".

Locally, this week a company posted a job position (on FB) looking for an editor with experience generating AI articles daily. Same week someone asked help to generate content daily because 3 posts per day was driving him nuts, and people recommended AI tools saying it's awesome and with some tweaking you easily get daily posts and articles to keep your readers engaged ("yes, sometimes it's nonsense but you just need to edit it a little bit).

Sounded crazy to me, but recently CNET took the spotlight for using AI for their articles and financial advice. <= This seems to be a rabbit hole as slowly more stuff about them is coming to light, saying they were doing this already for a year and a half.

Cnet posted about this directly [cnet.com]. But other sources say it's been going on for a while, not just since november 2022, also exposing CNET received comments about mistakes on such articles, things that were not accurate or didn't add up, things someone with a simple calculator would have noticed (on the financial articles specifically). (I didn't post the other links as I'm not entirely sure on the rules for that around news).

What do you think about this?
