Latest Content Strategy Suggestions Needed

How long it would take for a lifestyle content site to rank in top 30 for not so competitive keywords? What would be the ideal length that readers like and actually read? I was looking at many popular site and noticed 70:30 image content ratio. The content is not lengthy, within 800 words in most cases but generates conversation. Then I read long-form content is what Google wants. I need your help with this. Thx.

How long it might take to rank is anyone's guess. The ideal length is what satisfies the users' intent. For that you can examine what is doing well for the same general terms. What Google wants can change from day to day or month to month but what your visitors want is more important. Visitors who are pleased will be more likely to share that with friends.
