What is the best method for linking back to our website?
- Website Design & Content Writing Services (linking to our site)
- Site design & content writing by - (Our company Name linking to our website)
- Our company name + Site Design & Content Writing Services?

Linking back from all webpages Vs Linking back from their Home page?

How about a simple "powered by (your URL)" at the bottom? It's clean, subtle, and professional.

... of course if you ever get penalised, then all the client sites that link back to you will most likely be penalised too ... so of course you should make them aware of that before placing your link.

Yes, that sounds good. However, which one is more useful in terms of SEO - linking from a third party website using simply our URL ie, xyz.com or linking back to our website using keywords like "Website Design" by?

I would "no-follow" the links. Its then risk free for both parties.

How is that done?

Add rel="nofollow" within the link tags.

This does of course restrict the flow of page rank to the target pages.

that wouldn't help.

my point is that if the design company is ever red flagged for any kind of dubious practice, then quite likely all their client sites will be too, which could all easily be identified by the 'footprint' link.
