Beware of any site which states "this is popular" or "top posts" as most of the time those are ordinary templates on a website and a general hubris of the webmaster/company behind the site. Finding out how many legit back links to those pages (and who they are) is more indicative of popular material. As to what is "profitable", I don't believe anything published by a site as to the profitability of their material unless I have access to the company books... which is not likely.

One is better off finding out what are the most popular keywords and go from there.

And in the process of all that perhaps a bit of how to make money, too. Yes good point. Hard facts like deep inbound links are a good indicator of popularity relative to all other pages on a site (which = $$$) - but... the issue is time. I only want to skim read and spot patterns. Is there a tool which would enable me to segment and see how many links are on each individual page of specific site?

I imagine another good way is to do a site operator search on google which will rank the most popular pages in a site first....?
