Do registered copyrights deter scrapers?

...or help in taking them down?

Yesterday I finally received two registration certificates from the US Copyright Office for one of my sites. One from mid 2009(!) and one from May this year for a rewrite (guess they're either catching up, or work on an entire account while they're there).

If I list these in the footer of my site will they either deter some scrapers and/or help in getting copies taken down?

I'm wondering whether to take the noarchive out of these pages. Maybe even allow more than just the big three to crawl the site.

Copyrights can be registered, but they are not called registered copyrights. However a registered copyright means you can get monetary damages from infringers, so it could be somewhat of a deterrent. If you include your copyright registration number in the cease & desist letter, any sane person will be more likely to cease (if they are located in a western nation). But I guess it's debatable how much needs to be scraped to constitute copyright infringement.

Trademarks can be registered too. So be sure you actually state what you have correctly in the footer, or you won't deter them. It's easy to find documents on how to do this and if you went to the trouble of registration, it's worth getting legal counsel if you don't understand the documents.

Correct usage is like (example):

Copyright 2011 Myco LLC.
webmasterworld is a registered trademark of Myco LLC
