Expired content – what to do?

What to do with event driven articles after the event

I've a content website with about 1,000 articles on the recent World Cup. Times were good; traffic was high but that the event is now over and the content is out of date.

I'm now trying to determine if there’s any value left in these articles?

I'm thinking about cross linking to other relevant pages on the site. But I'm not sure what else I can do.

Any thoughts?

Maybe some other sports related / historical social web sites? Wikipedia? Facebook? MySpace? Etc.

Is this site specifically about thte World Cup? If so, create a category on the 2010 games, then one for the next one in Brazil and report on the news about that.

But don't delete it. It may be "out of date" but it can still bring traffic, albeit significantly lower prior to the games

One other option is to expand the site and cover other sports
