What to do if my website has been plagiarized

Today I found out that more than 100 pages of my informational website have been plagiarized. I already contacted the owner of the other site where my copy appears. I told him that if he doesn't take down my copy within 24 hours, I will contact my lawyer, BBB and his host. What else can I do?

I have not registered my site with the U.S. copyright office yet, but will do so tomorrow. I have more than 1,000 pages on my site and wonder how I can protect my work, which took me 4 years until now to create.

If somebody has had similar experiences, I would greatly appreciate any tips.

I think you must urgently register your site, but I think the action must be: first, register you site then throw you links. But I think If you can register your site you must change the name of it?!

File a DMCA complaint with the web host and Google and other search engines

Show proof that the content is yours -- and that means be prepared to show that this URL of theirs correspond to your URL. Someone copied my 5000+ page site and it was a pain to create the spreadsheet but that was what Google wanted

...and if they have advertising see if their advertising provider takes DMCA notices as well.

Contact their hosting provider to see what the procedure is to lodge a complaint - if they can take their site down, this will be the most effective remedy.
