Also would it help if he used ".co.uk" with the same domain name located on the same server... or use a Keyword targeted new domain name with ".com" located on the same server?
Forgive me if this sounds elementary... I just haven't had to deal with targeting an overseas demogrpahic in my 8 years of Web Design and SEO experience.

and you're simply going to exchange "mary" for "bob" in a bunch of sentences?
and it's hosted at the same place correct?
with a domain name that will be registered to the same owner correct?
if it's simply going to be a snapshot of your current site with minimal changes, then yeah...it's probably going to be seen as a form of duplicate content...

marcoh, while I can't say that changing your content 20% will work for you, it's been my experience that I don't get whacked with penalties when doing so.
