According to me, it is always useful to use keywords in the URL. Using keyword in the URL will help your site get the first preference in the search engines. Google gives great value to URL carrying keywords. If your keyword is unique , and it is there in your page URL, Google will detect your page.
One of the many benefits of having the primary keyword in the URL is that even if some other websites link to the website using only its URL, the site will enjoy the advantage of the keyword as its anchor text.

Thanks for the reminder but it's not exactly a new revelation is it? ;)

It's good for Google but it's even better for Yahoo. If you have the correct keyword in the url it almost guarantees fame in yahoo. A bit pathetic methinks that they can't look just a tiny bit deeper into the content.

great relevancy topic.... and sep & seo tips ....
I was just reading a topic on title tag and search engine optimized meta-tagging....... how many characters or how many words or keywords can be added into the title tag before Google or the directories don't list you.... I've seen bloggers use up to 120 characters in the title tags with a page rank of at least five or more..... the concept behind that keyword and keyword phrasing the title tag is the reflection up on websites and blogs...............

We all know that it is important to try to get KW linking text on inbound links. One of the reasons that keywords in the URL are important is that inbound links to your website that only use the URL contain your keywords.

I think Yahoo algorithm has changed. A few months ago I think MSN and Yahoo put more emphasis on URL keywords but things are changing in my opinion based on my personal experience.
