The infringing url is like this:
[ca.blog.360.yahoo.com...] ID here>?p=<page ID here>
Notice Y! Canada is merely a subdomain of yahoo.com.
I have found the Yahoo! Inc US office to be efficient and prompt dealing with dozens of previous DMCAs, so I was surprised when they replied:
Q/
<snip>
/Q
So I followed the instructions there and air-mailed a complete copyright notice to the Y! Canada Legal Office.
They ignored it entirely, so I posted another, and they ignored that too. No reply whatsoever.
When I report the infringement using the blog's "Report Abuse" link, Yahoo Canada simply silently resubmit the report to Y! US... and they ignore it.
So Yahoo! give you the run around, passing the buck hoping you'll go away, and let them continue to profit from stolen content.
Now, can anybody see if I'm missing something?
The infringement in question sits on this domain, and the Whois shows:
[ca.blog.360.yahoo.com...] = [ 206.190.56.54 ]
Registrant:
Domain Administrator, and Administrative Contact, and Technical Contact Zone Contact:
Yahoo! Inc. 701 First Avenue, Sunnyvale CA 94089
Domain servers in listed order: ns5.yahoo.com
So under US DMCA law Yahoo! Inc. are responsible for dealing with copyright infringements on that domain.
Correct?
But Y! Inc. are trying to pass responsibility to Yahoo! Canada.
The infringing material does not appear anywhere on a yahoo.ca (note .ca not .com) url, only on [ca.blog.360.yahoo.com...] type urls.
Y! Canada imply on their copyright page that they only have jurisdiction over yahoo.ca
[info.yahoo.com...]
Q/
a description of where the allegedly infringing material is located on the Yahoo! Canada site located at >>>www.yahoo.ca<<< with enough detail that we may find it on the site;
/Q
So that allows Y! Ca to ignore Copyright Notices with urls formatted:
[ca.blog.360.yahoo.com...]
And when you politely point Yahoo! Inc. to the Whois data showing they are responsible for the infringing url, they ignore you.
Any suggestions?
I repeat; the infringement does not appear on a yahoo.ca type url.
Following Stapel's tip here:
[webmasterworld.com...]
I found one version of the infringement on a Y! Inc. type url like this:
[blog.360.yahoo.com...] ID here>?p=<page ID here>
This url is mod-rewrite redirected by Y! Inc's server to their ca subdomain here:
[ca.blog.360.yahoo.com...] ID here>?p=<page ID here>
When I sent Y! Inc. a DMCA with the non ca url in it, I got the same response.
Q/
<snip>
/Q
A classic run-around.
Surely their claim is false, or am I missing some legal subtlety?

Despite following the instructions there, and waiting patiently, Y! Canada ignore the Notices, and quietly resubmit any online report to Y! Inc, and they then ignore them.
