I am starting a subscription based forum and I am thinking about disabling the right click option to prevent people from copying the content and e-mailing it to their friends who do not have the subscription. Is this a waste of time? I am sure there are ways around it but most of my customers are not extremely web savy. Any other suggestions appreciated.

Yes, it probably is a waste of time. I would think that most of the people who know how to do this will also know that there is a "view > source" option on the browser menu.

Having said that there is no harm in putting it in anyway.

You could also leave it in but cap it to 1 email per day or some other arbitrary number.

I've never run a subscription based forum so have no direct experience, but it strikes me that the odd leak here and there is not necessarily a bad thing. If those leaks actually show that it's worth signing up for the forum and ponying up cash.
