Like several of you, I also thought it was all a scam when I got a letter from this Copyright Clearance Center requesting me to fill up a tax form and personal data. There was also no indication as to what that was all about, so I actually threw away their first letter.

However, I am glad that I opened their next mailing, which I received a couple weeks ago, as it contained a check for, not 25 cents, but over $1,800! Note that they keep 25% of the money they collect as service charge (and, as I did not fill the tax form, there was a 28% tax withholding), but I don't care, it's totally unexpected income. Nice!
