Hiring the Right Content Writing Service for my Sites

Hello all,

I've been reading up on here about some of the horror stories about hiring the wrong freelance writer/content writing service. I definitely want to avoid those people/companies.

Rather then asking who to avoid, I was just wondering: what are some appropriate questions to ask these content writers to "qualify" them/their companies for the job? What are the tell tale signs of a good company/writer (other then they need to speak and write good English)?

I'm looking to outsource this service for my sites. any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

It's tough to find good writers that don't charge high rates. Sort of obvious really

What I'd suggest is to put the work out to tender on one of those elance types sites.

Then choose 4-6 writers and give them all the same test project.

See who comes out best for you.

I did this however and wasted about $600. Some were awful, others OK, 1 very good but charged too much.

I therefore worked out it's better to do it myself, yes it takes time but I get 100% what I want.
