article placement site or blog?

I am just about to begin writing a series of articles for a site I started a short time ago. The site is indexed and doing fine in the search engines thus far, but I'm unsure where the articles should be placed to get the most benefit from them. What's the best location for the articles, a blog or static pages on the website?

I can see the benefits to either one, but would really like to decide on the best way to place them so I don't have to move them around later. Could you tell me where you would place and articles and why?

Thanks very much.

It really depends on the type of site you're writing for.

If the content is of the informational/evergreen type which will change little over the course of time, there's nothing wrong with using static pages or a dedicated section/category in a cms-type site.

OTOH, if your articles are more newsy, opinion-led or the random rants of the author type, then a blog style site would probably be better.

FWIW, I have cms sites that use both styles, for the reasons given above. I put the news in a blog-style section. When the news gets too old to be relevant, the blog part is pretty easy to archive while the evergreen content stays the same.

It's hard to be any more specific without knowing what type of articles you'll be writing, but hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply malachite I appreciate the help.

Basically they will be "how-to" type of articles that will not change much at all. Minor updates maybe, but not news items.
