How to check if your content is not being copied by any website? Is there a special software or techiques?

The reason i ask is i will be taking services of several writers online and I just want to make sure that he/she didn't copy it somewhere.

Take a sentence and paste it into a search engine surrounded by quotes, if nothing, try it without the quotes to find similar and compare

The_Contractor has the right idea, although I take it a step further by using Copernic. That way I can search for that obscure phrase across multiple engines in different countries/languages and have the results aggregated automatically. Export to spreadsheet/database-of-choice for tracking and then investigate further.
