I know, there are some external possibilities for forums, but I want to hold the control over all data in the forum.
What forum software would You recommend?

Assuming you aren't looking for totally free software, vBulletin is the most popular solution and offers a robust control panel. At a few hundred bucks just about any site can justify the price.
For free, I suppose phpBB is the most commonly used. Haven't installed it in a few years, though.
