Hi i am new to the forum.

I'm looking for some advice on the best software/method to create a community website. I have been searching around for a while but not yet found anything that matches what i want to acheive.

I would like to produce something like this website but on a different topic.

[allrecipes.co.uk...]

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in Advance

Matt

Welcome to Webmasterworld!

Software is the least of project. Having skill in moderating, developing threads, maintaining membership is the best part of success. That, and a killer topic/theme!

You need lots of time. If you think a forum will run itself, forget it. Forums take WORK...

You also need a thick skin.

I use Invision Power Board. It's excellent, but not free (although I'm a legacy customer with a perpetual license. You can still pick them up from perpetual license owners looking to sell).

first of all you need a unique idea to gather people around.

till you are able to answer the question - "Why my communnity will be significantly better than others?" - I don't recommend even registering a domain name :)
