Mahalo's Jason Calacanis is replacing the website's crowdsourcing content model with a rather low-paying contract / write-for-hire / hourly wage hybrid model that utilizes fewer than 100 writers. Doesn't exactly seem to be a contender for Demand Media...

Note: Revenue sharing continues with Mahalo Answers, but not with Topic pages or How-tos, which apparently are a large portion of the site. I don't understand exactly what the Answers are, but it looks like payment is only in "Mahalo Dollars," whatever those are.)
