Do bookmarking/sharing services like AddThis bring value to a community site? How many users actually bookmark or share sites, is it worth it to have it on a community site?

Fargo, I have add this on some of my sites. It's not exactly going to bring droves of people, but for the 5 minutes it takes you might get something. Think a large site (like webmaster world) adding it to their page template and getting, well some more links and visitors. I recommend using it, but your traffic will come from elsewhere.

Thanks. I thought that user would first have to visit the site and from this particular site he could bookmark the page, but if it gives other ways to get users this way that should be good indeed..

i have seen some funny and offbeat threads make the front page of digg a few times; stories on the front page are exposed to their 3 million users, and typically receive a large influx of traffic ranging from 2k to over 100k visitors in a day.
