MySpace Extends Data Portability [pcworld.com] With OpenID

Two well-known Web sites have completed implementations of MySpace's data portability program, which has also been modified to allow a degree of user data caching and storage by external Web sites and to support the OpenID single sign-on method, MySpace announced Monday.
The moves represent the latest enhancements to the MySpace Data Availability Initiative, launched in May with big-name partners Yahoo, eBay, Twitter and fellow News Corp. unit Photobucket, and opened broadly to any Web site last month.

That's pretty cool... MySpace needs to do something to gain back some ground against the Facebook juggernaut.

I wonder if any WebmasterWorld members are working on OpenID projects... comments?

Myspace got real serious about development awhile back, they aren't nearly as lame as they used to be. Much better site than facebook IMO. FB is just too sterile for my tastes.

By sterile, you mean functional and clean... I'll take that over MySpace which seems make a sport out of everything you're not supposed to do as in terms of aesthetic design. Not entirely MySpace's fault as the user have control over content, MySpace has earned a well deserved reputation for having an unpleasing web site. It is very rare I will stay on a MySpace page for more than 1 second. If only Friendster fixed their technical problems early on, social sites would have been a much better place.
