Titles with admin or moderator in them might be misleading for the person who unlocks it(when they don't get admin/moderator powers) or for others(they assume regular users are admins/moderators).

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, steveuk. Are you planning on automatically conferring moderator and admin powers when members hit those thresholds?

I'd say that could be kind of dangerous. Prolific posting isn't always an indicator of sound judgment.

If you aren't giving them special powers, then, as StoutFiles notes, it would be confusing for everyone. Presumably, there will be real mods and admins, too.

hi all.
Wel lthisis what im doing, every post counts, as i have admins that check them, if they dont match what we want then it get deleted and the poster informed,

When reaching lets say Moderator 1 Silver Stars 400-550 Posts, they should auto be made that rank, but im not sure yet how to make that rank do special tasks, maybe i'll post a globla edited text say when rank is made if that person want to do these tasks then to email me so i can set them there taks settings, if not just leave it. as i think some people just want the ranks but not do the tasks which i dont mind as ling they keep posting.

im not sure where the setting in PHPBB3 3.0.1 are to do a auto setup mod/admin features, im still new to phpbb3 and learing the commands settings.
all i know is i set the staff's MOD setting they have now manualy, i may have to do this with others when they reach there goals.?

Having graduated user ranks will encourage some people to post, so having a large number of steps as you propose may be good.

I'd definitely advise against auto promotion to mod or admin, except perhaps granting long-time posters some very limited mod powers. I've seen some forums that are community moderated where the input of several senior members can remove a post or thread, for example.

You'll want to monitor and control any such activity, though, and remove powers from any abuser.

Most forums rely on manual identification and promotion to mod status.
