Well, I'm here to tell you that cloaking is good. Too many people focus on the negative side of things which leaves many of us thinking the same thing. Not I! Not anymore. I am now convinced.
There's a topic in the Supporter's Forum right now that deals with...
New Ways To Manage Duplicate Content on a Site?
[webmasterworld.com...]
In the above topic I provide an example of where cloaking would solve the issues that plague those of us dealing with dynamic content.
Cloaking is not for the everyday Webmaster either. It took me ten years to finally realize and understand the benefits. I was being hit with too many topics saying that cloaking was bad. And, I could see where that could be construed based on the implementation. Anything can be bad if used for deceptive purposes.
Today's Webmaster should be educated in the use of cloaking. You may be sitting on a site that is capable of generating millions of pages. You surely wouldn't want a bot in there generating a few extra million pages while executing sort queries, would ya?
So, why is this cloaking forum so damn quiet?
Because you've placed it in the subscription section. :)
Nah, just that one topic referenced. There really isn't anything new in there, just a rehash of things being used by various Webmasters.
I think the forum is a little quiet because it's just so uncontroversial these days. Everybody presupposes that all cloaking is "bad" so nobody feels like discussing it.
Uncontroversial? lol! I know as soon as a certain group find this topic, I'm going to be raked over their coals. ;)
I liked your argument in that thread.
Thanks. I really think that IP based delivery is the answer to dup content.
Thanks for livening things up in here, pageoneresults ;)
Hehehe, one post and you get all excited? I'm going to stop by more often and brighten your day. Give you something to do. Start some controversy. :)
