Google Korea With Dropdown Search Menu [blogoscoped.com]The Google Korea homepage, already different from Google.com for some time, is now showing a dropdown search navigation menu to the left of the search box. Translated it reads All Search - Image - News - Map - Dictionary - Blog - Shopping - Videos - Academic, so it represents the different ways to search Google. The selection box does not automatically trigger a search, though, you will still need to click the search button; also, the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button is ghosted as soon as you move away from the “all search” selection.
ironically... [b]Naver, Korea's number one search engine and portal, recently got RID of their drop down search menu (before google added it). HA! (go figure.) Its also shortened the overall height of the index page and emphasizing the search box more as well as changing top menu items.
Who's following who?
-- Naver is making removing stuff and making its design simpler.
-- while Google Korea is making add stuff and making it more portal style.
guess they'll meet in the middle sometime.
PS. google's and youtubes' market share have seen increases lately. I think G is about 5% now and the real name troubles has only brought youtube more attention and into double digit usage.
aside: I've been watching this dropdown thing RT around twitter for like a week and been amazed and well, annoyed at how this is actually interesting news. (you'll see posts with screenies soon. been working on it ^_^).
